This is a special message for members of the Television Academy Special Visual Effects peer group.
By now, you should have received many emails (and even snail mails) letting you know that voting is now open for the Emmy nominations in our categories. For many of you, this will be a first time opportunity. In the past, the nominations were determined by a small panel of viewers at a private screening in Los Angeles. Only those who could attend in person could participate. This year, our Peer Group Executive Committee voted to open the vote to all 200+ members of the peer group, by putting the ballots and all screening materials online. Members in production hubs like Vancouver, Toronto, New York, and Atlanta can participate equally with our Los Angeles colleagues. You may vote until 10PM PT on June 26.
So, how do you vote?
First, look for an email from the TV Academy with the subject "Voting Now Open"
In the body of the email, you will see these links:
The best way to vote is to have two windows open, one for the videos, one for the ballot (they are accessed separately). First, click on the link emmysfyc.com/judging . You'll be asked to enter your TV Academy username and password. If you don't know your username and password, follow the instructions to get an email letting you reset your password.
Under the category, select either “Special Visual Effects” or 'Special Visual Effects in a Supporting Role”.
Click on the icon, and you'll get a screen like this:
Now, simply click on each show's icon to view their submission reel. Enjoy!
Next, click on the link vote and open in another window.TelevisionAcademy.com . Again, enter your username and password. You'll get a screen where you can choose your categories. Scroll to the Special Visual Effects categories:
Then, you'll get the ballot screen, where you can select your 5 choices for nominee:
Be sure to vote in both categories. Our supporting work deserves your support just as much as the effects driven shows. And please watch all the videos. Every year, there are surprise gems - new shows you may not have seen that have fantastic effects. You don't want to miss those.
And good luck to all our competitors!
